Delivering a new EPOS solution

Introducing a new system to a business is always a challenge – and when you decide to actually replace pretty-much the whole of your IT Infrastructure at once, using products from a multitude of suppliers, this becomes an even more daunting task.  And that is exactly what one of our clients chose to do – a complete upgrade and replacement of the majority of their core IT systems in order to streamline their business – PCs, Servers, EPOS Systems and Software updates, all without any interruption to the business operations, made more complex as this was a 24-hour site, and with some of the products being specialist this could not be completed by just one providing company.

We were approached to take on the Project Management of the new solution, getting involved with all aspects of the migration including user requirements capturing, system design, supplier meetings, proposal evaluation, project planning to implementation, training and implementation processes.  We were entrusted to take on this responsibility based on a proven relationship that was already in place for the support of the infrastructure that we already provided.  Any issues that were encountered were dealt with swiftly to ensure that the project did not slip and remained on-track.  Regular update meetings were held with all stakeholders in the business to maintain their involvement and agreement that the project was running as they wanted – it’s a huge responsibility to oversee such an implementation on behalf of someone else but the team here at i3Q were able to meet expectations as instructed.

All elements went according to plan and we were able to work with all suppliers to ensure that their requirements and timescales were met along with the business needs to deliver the infrastructure upgrade, both IT and EPOS on-time and on-budget and business operations continued throughout the whole process.
